This is a great opportunity for me to know Kuching more.
I'm using 12.30 am bus....and i arrived around 7am in the morning on the 16th of January 2010. Its my first time to use this hour bus to kuching because i don want to waste my money to stay in the hotel.
Frankie Picked me up from the Bus Terminal Kuching.
Our first place to visit is the Dewan Bandaraya Kuching Selatan. Since it was Saturday, I couldn't visit the DBKS as I was told there are gallery on the Kuching history but only opens during weekdays. Its such a pity.....
Then we went to visit our 1st cat statue in the Kuching. It's name is Si Putih.....Its really cute....I was told Kuching was changed into city and that's Si Putih is the 1st cat in remembering their Kuching City.
I was told that almost every festive Si Putih will be put on some clothes. Example, during Christmas time, the Si Putih was to wear Red Cap and Red Scarf. Its interesting. I asked Frankie why White? He said it means the unity and harmony among the people in Kuching.
Then we went to the centre of Kuching and visited the most popular temple in Kuching, Tua Pek Kong. Its my luck to see all the offerings were made. If not wrong, the day before I came was 1st day of chinese calendar. I am amazed as this temple is in the middle in the busy street but when u step in, it was such a peaceful surrounding.
Then we proceed to Sarawak Museum. We took about 2 hours to finish the tour. There is so much to see. Ground floor is where we can see more on the Fauna that can be found in Sarawak. Then 2nd floor mostly on the most popular ethnic in Sarawak, their handcrafts , their culture and their believe.
The Sarawak Craft Council....Behind it is the Textile Art.....the visitors are most welcome to come and learn on the process on making the crafts.
We also went for a walk at Jalan India/India Street. It is very very interesting as this was my first time to see so many shops owned by India to do business. Its interesting as we walk along a small lane where we can see a mosque just next to it. Frankie said it is the most famous lane. however it is advisable not to walk in the small lane alone at night. Its pity tat i did not have the chance to take the photograph as I was so worried that my phone will be snatched....ha ha ha ......
